Historique :	En 1875, Paul Decauville imagine un petit chemin de fer portatif pour la culture et l'industrie, basé sur le principe de la division des charges et leur répartition sur un grand nombre d'essieux. Les éléments de voie (à écartement de 0, 60 m) sont semblables à des échelles et peuvent être déplacés par un seul homme. L'utilisation de ce type de chemins de fer, conçue à l'origine pour les transports agricoles et maraîchers, a été étendue à d'autres domaines, tels que les dessertes intérieures d'usines, de carrières, les transports militaires, etc. Cette locomotive Decauville, construite en 1919, a été livrée à la Société Mérillon Corvol et rachetée ensuite par les Ciments d'Origny Saint-Benoît, dans l'Aisne. Elle a été acquise en 1981 par le chemin de fer des Chanteraines, qui l'a utilisée jusqu'en 1998. Environ 373 locomotives du même modèle ont été livrées dans le monde. Douze sont encore conservées en France, et deux du même modèle sont protégées au titre des Monuments historiques, à Froissy (Oise) et Draveil (Essonne).
